IDEARTISM vs. REARTISM in Ten Different Colors. My Reflections on Art. It was my birthday yesterday and since I am transitioning to a more challenging and engaging year of life, I decided to approach it differently and do something out of the normal while the birthday wishes were coming in. I have been working on this project for the past three weeks trying out several other designs before settling on this one that I decided to manipulate into other several colors with the help of the ever resourceful Sollo Kinuthia . Orange – The color of socia l communication and optimism. I have had my own share of these over the past year. Its optimism and hunger for conversations that has brought me this far. Yellow – The color of the mind and the intellect. I’m not so bad there. Still working on it. Green – The color of balance and growth. I have self-reliance as a positive and possessiveness as a negative basing on this one. Let’s see how this year goes!

Amazing Photos of Maseno University that you would never imagine existed!! These photos are the works of Sollo , a friend of mine who has apparently been making extra good use of his and other people's camera. Now, let’s not lie to each other here, Maseno University is not that well known about. I mean, even some students here could not recognize the places these shots were taken at. But anyway, I am really glad that there is someone who is doing something positive from a place regarded as being negative by those who don’t know about it. Now, enjoy the photos!  Sollo is the media liaison of our local bloggers community. He’s currently working on a short video that captures our aims and objectives.

Insights on Creative Writing from the PAWA 254 Creative Writing Workshop in Kisumu Guest Speaker – Mark Kaigwa ( Founder at Nendo - Strategy & Storytelling for Digital Africa ) Facilitated by Kitata Makau– Senior lecturer at University of Nairobi Two weeks ago (Thursday, May 29), I attended a creative writing workshop convened by PAWA 254 at Royal City Hotel in Kisumu where participants were lectured by two guest speakers (Kitata Makau, lecturer at University of Nairobi and Digital Strategist Mark Kaigwa) on the fundamentals of creative writing and the state/future of journalism in the wake of wide spread stand alone journalism made possible by the internet and sporadic technological advancements that have challenged the place of the traditional journalist. The participants included students from top tertiary learning institutions in Kisumu County. It was the first time PAWA 254 convened a workshop in this part of the country and having attended some of thei

12 TRUTHS ABOUT HOW YOU CAN LEAD A BUSY, FULFILLING LIFE. This article is derived from “ 12 Myths That Lead To A Busy, Unfulfilling Life ” by Greg McKeon. Truth: In order to have focus, we need space to focus Myth: “I’m too busy to think about life” Take some time from the routine of checking your e-mails, hanging out with your friends, reading that book you are not enjoying or attending that irrelevant meeting and just get away from everything to get your mind clear. Be in a different environment, feel new surroundings and get some new space to figure things out. Truth: We can try to avoid  trade-offs , but we can’t escape them. We have to make a choice. Myth: “If you can fit it in you should fit it in” When faced with tough choices as to whether to commit your effort in one direction and to turn your back on the other, try as much as you can to choose one and to work on it perfectly. Calculate your possible losses and abandon the choice(s) that will be less

Music I Listened To Last Week I have been going out of my comfort zone for the past several months and trying to listen to new types of music just to develop a better understanding of the scope of music. So far, I have come across lots of good music on bandcamp.com   and soundcloud.com . Here is a list of some of the music  I've  found interesting in the past two weeks. Kindly comment with your thoughts on my selection and what new music you’ve listened to yourself in the past two months. (Most of these music can be found on bandcamp  and soundcloud ) Beat Garden Compilation 3 was released by Gergaz Netlabel in 30 January 2013 and is a compilation of abstract beats glitch electronic.
